Gosford is a city located on the Central Coast of New South Wales about 76 km’s north of Sydney. In a beautiful setting surrounded by water it is situated at the northern extremity of Brisbane Water, an extensive northern branch of the Hawkesbury River estuary and Broken Bay.
Brisbane Water, as it is known now, the predominant harbour area around the western side of Gosford, was the home of the coastal Guringai (Ku-ring-gai) people.
The city is the third largest urban centre in New South Wales after Sydney and Newcastle and is therefore an important administrative, prosperous business and servicing town to the metropolitan region.
The centre of Gosford has a strong retail and community precinct, with local café’s and

restaurants, library and a central park. Built in 1848 from natural sandstone standing in Mann Street in the heart of town, is the “Old Courthouse”, the oldest recorded public building on the Coast and now home to the Central Coast Music Conservatorium. In contrast the modern state of the art Bluetongue Stadium can hold up to 20,000 spectators and is a unique multifunctional facility and home ground for the Central Coast Soccer Mariners.
Sitting near the Rumbarala Reserve and the Buouddi National Park, locals and tourists can experience the natural beauty of bushland, or laze on the pristine beaches in the vicinity, including Terrigal, Avoca and Ettalong Beach, all popular holiday destinations for those escaping the big city.
