A Periodontist is a board registered dental specialist who have undertaken specialist training focusing prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal (‘gum’) disease, and in the placement of dental implants. The periodontist provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic, non-surgical and surgical procedures aimed at improving the periodontal health and retaining your natural teeth for a long as possible.

You can only become a specialist periodontist after acquiring a university dental degree, gaining general experience in clinical practice for at least 2 years and then undergoing an additional 3 years of intensive university and hospital based training. During this time the trainee periodontists are taught on all aspects of gum disease, treatment modalities, implant surgery and gum surgery at an advanced level. Only after rigorous written and clinical examinations are they award their specialist qualification. Hence there’s assurance that your treatment by us will be of the highest quality.
